Our team

The Company is managed by several former oil industry executives, from both commercial and technical disciplines, all with many decades of experience in the oil and gas exploration and production business. The two principal managers are Jonathan Rudney and Stephen Brunner.

JONATHAN RUDNEY
director

Mr. Rudney has over 40 years of executive experience in all facets of the upstream oil and gas industry – both domestically and internationally. A company formed in 1986, Century Offshore Management Corporation (Century), in which Mr. Rudney was a co-founder, major shareholder and executive officer, was one of the early, successful independent exploration companies active offshore in the US Gulf of Mexico at the forefront of 3-D seismic acquisition and processing in the late 1980’s. At Century and successor companies, Mr. Rudney was responsible for overseeing both offshore and onshore exploration, production, construction and engineering operations and also structured and negotiated major bank financings and pioneered the development of non-traditional capital sources (e.g. volumetric production payments and natural gas swaps). From inception to its cessation in 2012, Century discovered over 500 billion cubic feet of natural gas and 40 million barrels of oil and expended over US$1.5 billion in upstream capital expenditures.

Concurrently with his tenure at Century, Mr. Rudney pursued the development of personal oil and gas interests. Many of these projects were international, including concessions and licenses in Australia (which were ultimately sold to Sinopec), South America (adjacent to the large recent discovery by Exxon in Guyana), Caribbean, UK North Sea, France and Germany. These activities were primarily conducted through Century Exploration International, of which Mr. Rudney was Chief Executive Officer and major shareholder. Mr. Rudney was responsible for identifying, negotiating, developing and divesting of these global petroleum licenses.

From 2004 through 2010, Century International was active in the UK North Sea. Over US$125,000,000 was expended by the Century group in acquiring seismic data and drilling a number of high potential exploration wells as operator.

In 2015 Mr. Rudney, along with Stephen Brunner, formed a new, private well capitalized company, Horizon Energy Partners, LLC, to exploit conventional opportunities onshore in the San Joaquin Basin in California and offshore in the North Sea.

STEPHEN BRUNNER
director

Mr. Brunner has over 40 years of international and domestic energy experience, with 20 plus years in executive management and board roles of both public and private companies.  Broad leadership experience includes exploration, engineering and operations, mergers & acquisitions, and distressed company restructuring. A result driven perspective, proven leadership with success in creating value utilizing a strong team building approach with a commitment to excellence achieved through relationships built on integrity, collaboration and mutual respect.

Currently Mr. Brunner is Managing Director and Board Member of Horizon Energy Partners, LLC, a private company formed to exploit conventional opportunities onshore in the San Joaquin Basin in California and offshore in the North Sea.

As President, CEO and Board Member of Constellation Energy Partners Mr. Brunner successfully reorganized a distressed natural gas Master Limited Partnership in the 2010 depressed natural gas price environment. Debt was reduced by 75%, $100 million in value was added through successful exploration and he negotiated a strategic alliance with a new partner.

Mr. Brunner served as Executive Vice President Operations for Pogo Producing Company responsible for exploration, operations, acquisitions and divestiture activity in both domestic and international business units including Canada and Thailand. As Resident Manager in Thailand he was responsible for Sovereign relations and all aspects of an offshore oil & gas development including refurbishment and conversion of the first floating, production, storage and offloading vessel in the Gulf of Thailand. During his tenure Mr. Brunner oversaw over $6 billion in acquisitions and divestitures including the $3.6 billion sale of the company in 2007.

Mr. Brunner holds a B.S. Petroleum Engineering, Louisiana Tech University [1981]
